Mechanical Anchors

BOATMCOIL

OVERVIEW

Heavy duty anchors are used in structural and critical applications as well as being recommended for use in tension zone applications. The reason they are used in these applications relates to the ability of heavy duty anchors to further expand when loaded, should the concrete crack or existing cracks widen under service load.

The total capacity for further expansion is achieved by the larger taper on the coil bolt and the helical coil anchor. Should the concrete crack, the BoaTM Coil bolt can be further tightened through the coil, thus further expanding the anchor and maintaining the load on the fixture.

BoaTM Coil Anchor has been aptly named due to the strength shown by the Anchor. Named after the Boa Constrictor, its Coil digs into the concrete structure when set, forming a strong grip like hold onto the concrete giving excellent cyclic load resistance and combined with a high strength bold sized to suit the hole (no sleeves or spacers) gives a higher performance in shear than other anchors in the same size hole and a higher performance in tension than most other high performance anchors in the same size hole.

FEATURE BENEFITS
Unique in appearance
  • Easily distinguishable from all other fasteners.
Performance
  • Performance under cyclic load is superior to all other anchors at its price range and also to some anchors that are more expensive.
Silver finish
  • Distinguishes that it is designed for imperial hole sizes.
Tolerant
  • Accepts metric hole sizes.
Ease of setting
  • Drive into hole to depth set mark.
  • Turn anchor until washer is tight.
  • Boacoil undercuts into the hole substrate.
  • Immediate fixing.
Stress free anchoring
  • Closer edge distance and spacing than other expansion anchors.
Accommodates
  • Anchor can accommodate the fixture being repositioned to a new location, all that is required is a new BoaCoil with no load reduction.
Ultimate load
  • When taken to ultimate load the anchor moves outwards from the hole and has the ability to re-grip the hole as the coil expands, enabling it to continue to take the load until ultimately the concrete fails.
Suits solid material only
  • solid brickwork, solid block work etc.
  • Ideal for cyclic and pulse loading.
High shear load capacity
  • All metal components of the Spatec anchor are passivated zinc coated with the addition of a gold chromate conversion coating.
USES

  • High strength expansion anchor
  • Positive fix
  • Cyclic load resistant
  • Pull down capacity
  • Through fixing
  • True dimension

INSTALLATION

  1. Using the fixture as a template, drill the correct diameter and hole depth. Clean hole with brush and remove debris with vacuum or hand pump.

  2. Insert the assembled BOATM COIL ANCHOR. (The coil tab points up the anchor.) Tap anchor down to depth set mark and stop.
  3. Wind the anchor down until the washer is firmly held to the fixture and stop.

  4. Ensure washer is tight and snug fit.

  5. The BOATM COIL ANCHOR is ready to take load. (The bolt can be removed leaving the coil in the hole. To re-insert, follow steps 3 and 4.)
