Heavy duty anchors are used in structural and critical applications as well as being recommended for use in tension zone applications. The reason they are used in these applications relates to the ability of heavy duty anchors to further expand when loaded, should the concrete crack or existing cracks widen under service load.
The total capacity for further expansion is achieved by the larger taper on the coil bolt and the helical coil anchor. Should the concrete crack, the Boa
TM Coil bolt can be further tightened through the coil, thus further expanding the anchor and maintaining the load on the fixture.
Boa
TM Coil Anchor has been aptly named due to the strength shown by the Anchor. Named after the Boa Constrictor, its Coil digs into the concrete structure when set, forming a strong grip like hold onto the concrete giving excellent cyclic load resistance and combined with a high strength bold sized to suit the hole (no sleeves or spacers) gives a higher performance in shear than other anchors in the same size hole and a higher performance in tension than most other high performance anchors in the same size hole.
